I see you have an Ad Blocker enabled and I get it, I use them too. I run this site completely on my own and it can be quite time consuming but I feel it is an important resource for the community. There are only a few simple ads on the site that cover the costs of running the site plus a little extra.

I hope you appreciate my work enough to consider adding it to your ad blocker's whitelist.

About Division Field Guide

Division Field Guide is an informational site for the community of the Tom Clancy’s The Division. We aim to provide the best content to help get the most from your gameplay.

Data source

The source of the data for the game is directly from within the games downloaded client files. To update this site, the game’s archives are decompressed, parsed by 1000s of lines of proprietary Go code, and restructured into TOML data files which are used to generate the sites content. This allows the site to be one of the most complete and up to date resources for the game.

Technology

The site is generated using the Hugo Website Engine. The content has been released under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License which means that you may share content we have created, even for commercial purposes, as long as you credit Division Field Guide as the source.

Hugo is written in the Go programming language and is a static site generator. The entire website is built using static files with meta data at the beginning of the file followed by Markdown syntax for the content allowing rapid development of content with a consistent appearance. Because all of the content is stored within files, there is no use of a traditional database which makes the site more portable and easier to backup.

The site is powered on a SSD backed virtual machine from Digital Ocean. We have been using them for a few years now, they have excellent support, are inexpensive and those SSDs are so very fast. We recommend them if you are in the market for a new provider.
